Your Community Library, Right Here in Brownfield
Since 1897, the Brownfield Public Library has been a place for neighbors to read, learn, and connect. We offer much more than books, including free Wi-Fi available 24/7, public computers, Inter-Library Loan, copy and fax services, a vast online digital-download library, a seed library, and a meeting space for public use.
We’re also a place to gather and join in. You may find us hosting a community group, helping someone find the perfect book or resource, hosting ukulele practice, working in our Pollinator Garden, or out celebrating Brownfield Days with our neighbors.
Please Help Keep Our Doors Open
Our dedicated volunteers help us stay open four days a week, and town funding supports our work, but it doesn’t quite cover our operating expenses. Grant money can’t be used for them either, so your tax-deductible donation makes a real difference. A gift of any size through our GoFundMe goes straight to keeping the lights on and the doors open.

Heart & Hand, Brownfield's very own Lawn, Garden Supply Center & Lawn Maintenance company has for years taken care of our plowing our driveway and shoveling us out! We all know that Maine winters are tough! But it's no match for the Coen family!

The Brownfield Public Library was established by The Ladies of Center Village in 1897. It is currently located on Main Street in Brownfield, Maine, in a two room building. The original library was built by the Quakers after the fire of ’47.
